I don’t buy that the UO aesthetic is some grand conspiracy by Hayne to make young liberals appear more vapid (as i’ve read in many articles this week). I think the man is just wildly disconnected from his own product and he is laughing all the way to the bank. The average urban outfitters shopper IS vapid enough to keep shopping there. protest will not come at the retail level. The real question is what’s going through the minds of the HUNDREDS of gay men & women I know this company employs between Anthropologie and Urban Outfitters. I haven’t heard a peep out of them and they’re clearly the ones who’ve shaped the company. not this guy:
